Mountain Gold – London Tea Exchange
Sheikh Aliur Rahman, Managing Director
Mountain Gold, one of the rarest teas within the London Tea Exchange collection, has won the Best Product of the Year Award category at the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce & Industry (UKBCCI) Inaugural Business & Entrepreneur Excellence Awards 2016 and Gala Dinner.
Held at the London Hilton Park Lane on Sunday 20th November, the glittering awards ceremony saw Sheikh Aliur Rahman, Managing Director of the London Tea Exchange, win the award in the presence of over 800 guests, made up of dignitaries, VIPs, MPs and prominent members of the business community.
The tea is cultivated from the wild and ancient forests of Yunnan, China. These forests are a national treasure made of wild tea trees over 1,500 years old. Local hill tribes have enjoyed the area’s teas for more than 1,300 years. The forests are situated over 5,000 feet above sea level and contain ancient tea trees spanning heights of up to 50 feet. Once picked, the young leaves are processed using traditional methods. These teas are produced in very small quantities to ensure sustainability and due to their rarity, reach record prices of up to £10,000 per kilogram. Only two to three tea merchants globally have access to these unique and rare teas; London Tea Exchange is privileged to be one.
